Barry Sopinsky is the Founder, CEO & Executive Director of the Challenge2ConquerALS, Non-Profit. He formed the non-profit in 2009, starting with a 3-day cycling tour in Southwestern, Colorado, called the DEATH RIDE Tour to honor the memory of his Dad, Irvin Sopinsky, who passed away from ALS when Barry was 13 after a 7 year battle.
Barry has a long career of Sales & Marketing Management holding positions as Vice President, Creative Marketing at Behr Paint and Director of Retail Sales for Bona US.

Barry has always been passionate about doing what ever he could to raise funds and awareness to fight the BEAST, ALS. Since the inception of his Non-Profit in 2009, they have been able to Give Back (TZEDAKAH) just shy of $300,000. For that Barry and his entire team are very grateful.
In 2019, Barry meet William White by happenstance. Barry's sister-in-law, an OSU graduate, had seen an article about William and his ALS diagnosis. Barry immediately thought he needed to get to know William and do what ever he could to support his ALS battle.
Barry and William hit it off and Barry invited William to come to Colorado for the 2019 DEATH RIDE Tour X as his guest and then in 2020 to Skydive in Moab.
Later William introduced Barry to Dr. Stephen Kolb who leads ALS Research Program at OSU - thus the beginning of the OHIO Challenge2ConquerALS in support of the OSU Wexner Medical Center.

Always standing along side Barry for the last 41 years has been his wife, Deborah Sopinsky who serves as Senior Vice President, Customer Relationships. Deborah is the Governor and helps to keep Barry's passion for the cause and his out pouring enthusiam to a somewhat level playing field. If you have ever met Barry, you can imagine just how tough of a job this is.
Deborah is a seasoned Account Sales Representative and one of the most compassionate, heart warming individuals you could ever meet.
In 2019, at the 10th Annual DEATH RIDE Tour Charity Cycling Event in Colorado, Deborah was William White's personal chauffeur and tour guide driving with him for 3 days, 235 miles through the beautiful San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado.
Later in 2019, Barry found out about another ALS Warrior, Bob Amann. Barry and Bob went to High School together and were teammates on the Kenmore West Varsity Football Team. They hadn't seen each other or talked for over 50 years. Once again Barry wanted to Do Something For Others so SkyDive2ConquerALS became part of the Challenge2ConquerALS - Triple Crown - StairClimb, Cycle & Skydive.
Barry and Deborah's very talented son serves as the Vice President, Creative Marketing. A seasoned profeesional, having started his career with Mattel Toys as a Designer of Super Heros and now holds the position of Design Director at Moose Toys living in Melbourne, Australia.
Brandon has been responsible for the designing of all the cycling jerseys and logo designs since the beginning.
In 2009, he created the first of 10 years of jerseys with the Angel of Death. In 2011, Barry wanted something a bit more "Super Hero" feeling, and the Cyclist Angel of Life was born. This logo has remained the symbol of heaven and life, protecting all who participate in their cycling events.
In 2020, Bud created the SkyDive2ConquerALS, EAGLE, logo in honor of Bob Amann.

The other talented child of Barry and Deborah Sopinsky is Rachel Sopinsky. As it is with Deborah and Brandon, Rachel too has always been by her Dad's side keeping him calm and level headed and at the same time serving the Non-Profit as Vice President Communication & Social Media.
Rachel is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a degree in Communications. Rachel and husband Cory Baccus now live in Denver. She is a personal trainer and an instructor at TRANSFORM COLORADO teaching VersaClimbing & Lagree. October 2, 2020 in the heart of the pandemic, Rachel and Cory, gave Barry and Deborah their first grandchild, River Rose. Riv will be soon standing alongside her Mom & Dad cheering on all the participants of the Challenge2ConquerALS events.
In 2021, TEAM OHIO Challenge2ConquerALS was formed to bring very needed funds and greater awareness to the devastating disease, ALS in support of BUCKEYE William White and all the other Ohio ALS Warriors past and present.
The funds raised by the team are 100% donated to the work and research being done at the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center ALS/MND Multidisciplinary Clinic and Research Program.
The team of very talented individuals are all 100% Commited to the cause and support the mission to find a cure.

Dr. Kolb's background and qualifications are very impressive:

Fellowship: Neuromuscular research Post-Doctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Gideon Dreyfuss, University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Kolb’s philosophy is very simple ... he approaches patient care the way he would expect his physician to approach him with competence, honesty and a collaborative style. His professional, high qualified team of clinicians and researchers are committed to ALS research.
Dr. Kolb and his very talented team focus on of three major advancements which are:
1. Accelerate our understanding of the genetics of ALS and the impact of gene discovery on people with ALS and their families.
2. Create model systems to study ALS in the laboratory more accurately, leading to better treatments.
3. Develop and test gene therapy approaches to safely protect motor neurons and stop ALS.
William White is an ex OSU alumni and 11 year veteran of the NFL. William was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1988 where he played along with Barry Sanders, NFL Hall of Fame Legend and will be our special guest in 2021 at our charity event to honor his ex-teammate and to present the PEAK AWARD for the top sponsors and fundraisers.
William finished his NFL career playing in Super Bowl 33 with the Atlanta Falcons against the Denver Broncos. William did not win that battle on the field in Super Bowl 33. Today,
William is facing another battle, the "BEAST", ALS. William is a patient of Dr. Stephen J. Kolb (a renowned Physician-Scientist) and a strong advocate of bringing greater awareness to his OHIO community through his participation in the OHIO Challenge2ConquerALS Charity Event, July 10-11, 2021.
